I am Jerry T. Leverett Jr.
As a practitioner of several arts through the years I found my love to be for two aspects or places in the Martial world. I am a Practitioner of Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu Karate Do. I hold my black belt rank there. But years before I met my current Sensei, Shihan Juan G. Queris of Winter Haven Budokai, Winter Haven , Florida, I dabbled in the world of Tiet Sau , which is Chinese for....Iron Hand. I learned my Iron Hand from Mew Hing's 18 Daoist palms Southern Shaolin Gung Fu. And honestly, these two arts have been thoroughly what I had been wanting for all my life. I also followed Sifu Lee Shilo in the method known as Diamond Palm which is a Method and technique of breaking. I hold Black belt with him as well.
I am Karateka!
Never let anyone convince you otherwise. However, I have a profound love for my Tetsu Te which is the Japanese expression for Iron Hand.
I found myself out of shape and in pain around August of 2012 and realized I had not truly dedicated myself to my Iron Hand...so I did. And along the way for the last year I have found a true joy in the art of breaking! and it has gotten me back in shape.
I do not believe in deforming my hands to achieve breaking and I believe that much can be achieved by following simple rules:
1. Be smart and listen to your body. It WILL let you know when you are reaching a breaking point.
2. Never assume you cannot break at a certain level....the mind is the greatest obstacle! you must believe it is possible and the break will come but...
3. without consistent persistent repetitious training...you will only hurt yourself.
